Cyber Bullying or being “righteous?”

I’m trying to sleep earlier (and failing miserably) but I HAVE to write a diary entry to get things off my chest. I want to talk about the topic of cyber bullying.

What is Cyber bullying?

“Cyberbullying” is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones.”-According to Stopcyberbullying.org

What’s amazing about Cyberbullying is that ANYBODY can do it. A five year old can be the bully and he/she can also be the victim. Some people take cyber bullying lightly and think “Meh, one little comment doesn’t hurt” and some make take it seriously by tracking your every move to make sure your life is a misery.

Why they do it? There is only one objective and it is to hurt you. Maybe you did something that pissed them off or maybe you did nothing at all but they just don’t like you. So thanks to technology, they can just hide behind their screens and talk crap about you. All so it makes themselves feel better by venting out on others. I read something today that made me sad, confused and then angry.

I’m not even going to bother telling you what it is but it isn’t about me (so don’t worry guys). I am seeing SOOO many people joining together to LAUGH at this person. These people act like they are righteous but they are just all the same- acting inappropriately.

No matter how much of a jerk a person is- NOBODY deserves cyberbullying and especially at this scale.

Sure some people are laughing at this person. Maybe people think this person deserved it. Maybe it will teach this person a lesson. While some move on with their lives, some people decide to join this cyber bully fest. “

“GO DIE”

“KARMA IS A BITCH”

Even if it is all ‘online’- how would you feel if this person couldn’t take it and decided to take away his/her life? How would it feel that you are part of the reason for it? You will have to live the rest of your life knowing it is your fault.

What about this person’s family? Maybe you don’t care. But what if this person is a friend of yours? What if this person is a family member?

Does anybody remember the boy that was bullied constantly in a chatroom? He told them that he was going commit suicide. What did the people in the chatroom do? Laugh and tell him he SHOULD do it. So he hung himself infront of everybody on camera for them to see. These people in the chatroom now have to live everyday of their lives knowing they’re murderers. 

I’m pretty sure I am ridiculed a lot on gossip forums but fair enough- it’s their mouths so I can’t stop what other people say. I have dignity and I refuse to act low by responding because that means I’m JUST LIKE THEM. I would NEVER get a bunch of people to come together to ridicule a single helpless person. If this person did you wrong. Fair enough! But why go as low as this person’s level and multiply it by a hundred times? I am just so confused. Don’t you feel even the slightest bit guilty?

Treat people the way you want to be treated….. I’m no hero and I certainly don’t try to come across as an angel because I’m just human so I do stupid things everyday. There’s days when I can be a total bitch, trust me guys….but I have morals.

I hope everybody who is reads this will NEVER become a BULLY…I ESPECIALLY don’t want any of you guys to become a victim either.
